Account Verification
Applies to every player who registers an account or sends or receives funds at Kananaskis Casino. In force from sign-up, ahead of the first deposit and for the full life of the account. Covered below: what we verify, which documents are accepted and the outcome when a check cannot be finished.
Purpose
1.1 Registration is open only to people where the law allows it. We follow Canadian rules on age and identity checks and on preventing money laundering.
1.2 Verification confirms four points:
- You are the person who holds the account.
- You are aged 19 or older.
- You are located where our games are permitted.
- The money you deposit comes from a lawful source.
1.3 We complete an identity check and a geolocation check before we accept any deposit.
1.4 Verification is free. The casino adds no fees to deposits or withdrawals.
Screening
2.1 We screen every new account against sanctions lists and check whether the account holder is a politically exposed person (PEP).
2.2 A PEP is a person with a prominent public function, now or in the past, plus their relatives and known associates. If someone matches as a PEP, we run enhanced checks. It does not mean automatic refusal.
2.3 When we confirm a sanctions match, we won't open the account or keep it open. Funds are held where the law requires it.
2.4 We screen accounts again at regular intervals and whenever your name, address or other key details change.
Records and Reporting
3.1 Records of transactions, ID documents and check results stay with us for the period Canadian law requires, including after an account has been closed.
3.2 We report suspicious transactions, and other transactions the law specifies, to the competent Canadian authorities. The law prohibits us from telling a player whether any such filing exists.
3.3 Records are stored securely, and only staff with a compliance reason can view them. For details on how we treat personal information, see Your Privacy.
Identity and Age
4.1 To sign up, you'll share your full name, home address, date of birth and email address with us.
4.2 First, we try to confirm these details electronically using reliable data sources. If no match comes back, we ask for documents.
4.3 Documents we accept:
- Photo identification: a current passport, provincial photo ID card or driver's licence, with all four corners visible.
- Address: a current utility bill, bank statement or letter from a government office showing your name and home address.
- Card ownership: an image of the front of your Visa card with the middle digits covered. Never send the security code.
- E-wallet ownership: a screenshot of your Payz (ecoPayz), MuchBetter, Apple Pay or Google Pay account showing your name.
- Bank ownership: for Interac e-Transfer or eCheck, a bank statement with your name and account details on it.
4.4 Send clear, unedited colour images to [email protected] from the email address on your account.
4.5 The name on your documents must match the name on your account and on every payment method you use. Third-party payment methods are not accepted.
Ongoing Monitoring
5.1 We monitor account activity for warning signs, including:
- Money deposited and withdrawn with minimal play.
- Several accounts linked to one person, household or device.
- Payment methods belonging to someone else.
- Sudden changes in deposit size or frequency.
5.2 We repeat checks when your details change, when activity no longer fits your profile or before releasing a withdrawal that needs further checks.
5.3 Our quoted payout times only apply once your account is verified. Most options pay you within 1 to 4 hours, while bank wires can take as long as 12 hours.
Failed Checks
6.1 When a check cannot be completed, or the result is unsatisfactory, one or more of these steps applies:
- Deposits, play and withdrawals are paused until the matter is resolved.
- The account is restricted to withdrawal only.
- We shut the account down.
- Where the law requires, we report the matter to the authorities.
6.2 Requested documents must reach us by the deadline stated in our email. If they do not arrive, the account stays paused.
6.3 If a check reveals that the account holder is younger than 19, we shut the account, send deposits back to the original payment method and cancel any winnings.
6.4 Forged or altered documents lead to closure and forfeiture of winnings under the Player Agreement.
Source of Funds
7.1 We may request evidence of where your deposits come from when your deposit levels are high compared with your profile, when enhanced checks apply or when the law requires it.
7.2 Acceptable evidence includes payslips, bank statements, tax assessments and records of a property sale or inheritance.
7.3 Where needed, we also ask how your overall wealth was built. This is called source of wealth and is assessed separately.
7.4 Deposits and withdrawals may stay paused until we have examined the evidence.
